“I already knew as a child where the buses and trams in Dresden went.”
Here is someone pulling the strings with passion – from planning to implementation.
“As a child, I definitely wanted to do something with trams and buses,” says DVB project manager Toni. His grandparents can confirm this: patiently, they accompanied their grandson on countless rides through Dresden – until he was finally allowed to do his school internship at DVB. His career began as an operations specialist. He drove trams for several years, completed his high school diploma during his training, and then studied transportation engineering – setting the course for his current position.
Today, he no longer drives the vehicles but steers DVB’s major construction projects. With his team, he plans and coordinates construction work that sustainably strengthens local public transport in Dresden. His expertise is appreciated not only locally – Toni now also exchanges ideas with professionals from Switzerland and Finland.
“Every now and then, I still drive a tram to see whether our plans work in practice – and simply because I enjoy it,” he says with pride. Toni lives for public transport – back then as a child, today as a project manager, and surely also in the future when it comes to advancing Dresden’s mobility.
